The History of APC Prosthetics

APC Prosthetics began in June 1998 as a partnership of the four founding members Harvey Blackney, David Howells, Richard Curby and Erwin Muenger. It is built on the firm foundation of over 100 years of combined clinical experience.

Our internationally recognized clinical team attends several amputee clinics in NSW and is the first choice for many amputees throughout Australia.

Since the Sydney 2000 Paralympics we have been the appointed prosthetists to the Australian Paralympic Team and continue to contribute to their success.

Originally established in Northmead, we soon realized that with ever growing demand, bigger and more modern facilities were needed. Plans were made to relocate to purpose built premises directly adjacent to Westmead Hospital.

The state-of-the-art facilities were completed in 2004 and officially opened by the then NSW Minister for Health and now Premier of NSW, the RT honourable Morris Iemma on August 19th. The new building has been named "Muenger House" in memory of Erwin Muenger.

Three years later saw the addition of APC Prosthetics Hunter in Newcastle. Here we provide services to the Amputee community in the Hunter and Newcastle areas in our custom-designed facility.

APC Prosthetics now provides benchmark services to the Amputee community in two locations that are amongst the most modern and advanced worldwide.
